Grab a couple of your closest friends, golf clubs and come help fight pancreatic cancer.

The fourth annual Ikamas Foundation Golf Outing is scheduled for Aug. 5, 2016 from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Sycamore Hills Golf Club in Macomb, Michigan.

In August 2013, the Ikamas family was saddened by the death of beloved husband, father and family man Leo Ikamas, due to pancreatic cancer. Before he passed, Leo stated that “I know that research and clinical trials likely won’t save my life, but I believe it will help someone in the future.”

Prior to Leo’s death, the Ikamas family had lost another family member, Elizabeth Ynocencio, to pancreatic cancer in September 2010. Since Leo’s passing, Leo’s wife Bonnie, his two sons and daughter-in-laws, Andrew, Adam, Laura and Sarah Ikamas, continuously push to raise money for pancreatic cancer research to honor Leo and Elizabeth.

Collectively, the past three Ikamas Foundation Golf Outings have generated over $10,000 from donors. To help stimulate pancreatic cancer research, all of the money earned during the Ikamas Foundation Golf Outings goes directly toward the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center, specifically Dr. Diane Simeone's research, and their battle to stop pancreatic cancer.

"When I met Dr. Simeone I felt that she cared deeply about curing pancreatic cancer,” said Bonnie Ikamas. “My husband would have only had months to live, but with her help he had 4.5 years. I will do anything to help other families have the same hope and happiness she helped mine have during some of our darkest hours.”

There are two different price packages for the 2016 Ikamas Foundation Golf Outing. For $100 a person, guests will be a part of a golf scramble and range, lunch with a drink ticket  and a tenderloin buffet dinner with an open bar. The second pricing package, for $50, includes dinner only.

“The golf outing has been an amazing way to bring our family together to celebrate [Leo’s] life each year in early August,” said Adam and Andrew Ikamas. “We really hope you’ll consider joining us the first Friday in August.”
